I was making my bed this evening when I noticed, peaking out from beneath my mattress, a rope. A rope knotted in the shape of a stirrup, the perfect size for someone's foot. I chuckled to myself, remembering what it was used for, and thought it funny that it had remained under my bed for three months, unnoticed. A remnant of another life.
